DETAILS

Join the IHC for our 15th annual Eastern Idaho Distinguished Humanities Lecture with bestselling author David Grann on Thursday, April 18, 7 p.m at the Shoshone-Bannock Casino Hotel and Chiefs Event Center. The author will discuss his book "Killers of the Flower Moon" with Mark Trahant, editor at large of Indian Country Today in a conversation moderated by new tribal author Randy’L Teton. "Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI," is a true-crime tale that unravels one of the most sinister crimes and racial injustices in American history. With over 100 weeks on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list, it was a finalist for the National Book Award. "Killers of the Flower Moon" was adapted for the screen in 2023, with Martin Scorsese as director, starring Lily Gladstone, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. Actress Lily Gladstone recently became the first Native American to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. The author will discuss his book with Mark Trahant, Shoshone-Bannock tribal member and editor at large of Indian Country Today. Trahant was recently inducted into The National Native American Hall of Fame for his decades of work on behalf of Indigenous peoples through his work as a journalist, speaker, and teacher. Grann and Trahant will be joined on stage by Randy’L Teton (Shoshone-Bannock). Since 2022, Randy'L has served on the IHC board of directors. Teton recently published her first novel, "It's Her Story: Sacajawea." Ticket prices for the Eastern Idaho Distinguished Lecture will be offered on a sliding scale. Sales with suggested ranges are currently available here. Tickets are available for a private reception prior to the lectures with the author for $75.00, with cash bar and hors d’oeuvres.
